“Seller Says”

The things I love about Black Mountain are the one-of-a-kind works of art in the numerous arts and crafts workshops and boutiques plus the feeling of connectedness with nature and history.

We love to eat at The Veranda, My Father's Pizza and Phil's Bar-B-Que Pit. The Veranda captures everything we love - quaint atmosphere, scrumptious soups, sandwiches and salads, and shopping. My Father's Pizza is a perennial favorite, and Phil's Bar-B-Que Pit consistently delivers hearty, delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere. The grocery store with a huge selection of not only every imaginable food item, but also household items is Ingle's Market.

A Starbucks kiosk surrounded by lovely floral and greenery items greets you as you enter. There are several pharmacies including Rite Aid and CVS also closely convenient. When the property was first surveyed, the views of the Appalachian Mountains threaded with the white ribbon of Blue Ridge Parkway were stunning.

The Asheville Watershed cradled in the valley below added the proverbial "cherry on top" of the views. It offered the best of both worlds - close to Black Mountain and Asheville but just far enough away to feel surrounded by nature's beauty.

The Asheville area is wonderful because its offerings appeal to so many different interests. For the nature lover, there are stunning mountain views and drives plus whitewater rafting and great hiking. For the city dweller, there are concerts and night life aplenty. Restaurants are plentiful, and for the visitor or resident alike, the Biltmore Estate and Grove Park Inn never disappoint.

A few other things I can mention are the breathtaking drives in autumn along the Blue Ridge Parkway, the abundance of local and native arts and crafts plus the family friendly vibe of the area. Of course we all like different things (can you tell that we are nature lovers??), but we also enjoy shopping, quilting, stained glass art, astronomy and music. The Asheville Choral Society offers both choral opportunities for singers and beautifully presented concerts several times each year. There is a large stained glass studio that offers classes and work sessions for all levels.

Our neighborhood is great for breathtaking views of the mountains in all seasons, stargazing away from city lights, the feeling of "country" including the gentle sound of farm animals in the valley below all within a 20 minute drive to the bustle and big-city amenities of Asheville.

Utility costs include electric - there is a heat pump for both heating and cooling the home. A propane tank is on the property to power the gas fireplace and requires periodic filling. Water is pumped from a well on the property. Other costs would be for trash collection and internet service.

This home was originally our parents' home. Our visits there were always adventure filled with walks around the gorgeous lakes and hikes or “bear hunts” into the surrounding mountains of this beautiful area. Evenings brought a deep sense of peace, listening to the gentle sounds of farm animals in the valley below and gazing in awe at the blazing stars above invisible to us as city dwellers. No matter the season, coming here always meant a respite from the pressures of city life and a reconnection with the things that truly endure.
