Seller Says -

The convenience of living between Asheville and Black Mountain is a major factor of why we have enjoyed this beautiful valley setting with mountains scenery in any direction you look.

Only 5 miles from the quaint setting of restaurants and shopping opportunities in Black Mt., 8 miles from the Asheville mall, and 15 minutes to downtown Asheville, we are just 1.5 miles from Route 40. With a selection of so many restaurants just down the road in Black Mountain, we find ourselves heading there often for the best pizza in the area at Fresh Wood-fired Grill, but our preference goes to their wonderful authentic Italian specialties. From Ole Guacamole's renowned Mexican fare, to the sedate Red Rocker Inn offering traditional southern comfort food, to upscale Que Sera, Louise's Kitchen for locally sourced, organic breakfast and lunch creations, and Saki, a wonderful Japanese experience, Black Mt. offers much more to those seeking every type of ethnic fare.

Nearer to home, just over a mile from our home, Native Kitchen offers a friendly tavern featuring live entertainment and specialty restaurant dishes all under one roof. Got to try their Roasted Brussels Sprouts.

Ingles, the largest chain in the Carolinas, is just a mile from our home. The Asheville Mall offers the usual chain outlets, - Belk's, Dillard's, JC Penney, and right across the street from the Mall are Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Lowe's, Aldi, Walmart, and many more. Ace Hardware is next to Ingles Supermarket with the Swannanoa Post Office nestled in between.

We were immediately excited about the vaulted ceilings with the open floor plan, the good-sized loft area, the neutral pallet, and feeling of an expansive living area. The private road ending in the cul-de-sac means quiet evenings rocking on the front porch or listening to the night sounds on our enclosed back porch.

What we love: THE MOUNTAINS...the views, the vibrant Asheville scene from the Asheville Symphony to the nationally recognized bands that our kids come to see when they are in town, and our spontaneous drives to the Biltmore Estate, just 15 minutes away, to walk the grounds or to take in the free concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings (we have been annual passholders since arriving here). We highly suggest an annual pass to enjoy the truly year round activities.

We love the idea of so many possibilities without the need for a lot of pre-planning. Hop in your vehicle and drive up the Blue Ridge (entrance 5 miles from us) and drive up to Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak East of the Mississippi. Or drive a couple of miles and take a hike for some really exhilarating scenery. Because we enjoy hiking and getting up into the mountains, we can go 15 minutes in any direction and be on a great trail.

The Senior Center in Black Mt. offers great activities, including monthly luncheon outings and longer excursions, and if you like to fish, Owens Pond is well stocked with Trout and Bass just over two miles down the road from us.

We sit on a hillside overlooking the valley, Fernstone Village is a small oasis of town homes with an average of 75 feet between units, well landscaped, with an inspiring view in the evening overlooking the Swannanoa Mountains. With enough distance between units to have a sense of privacy, you are close enough to say a friendly good morning to your neighbor when getting your mail of taking a relaxed stroll with no worry about any traffic on our private road.

Duke Energy. Asheville City Sewer and Water are all in one bill, and Charter Cable is what we utilize.

Other features to mention: Floored overhead garage storage. Sensor lights in rear. Gas fireplace with remote on/off. Beautifully landscaped yard with privacy fence for a feeling of oneness with the outdoors.
