The screened-in porch comes complete with a tv and bar table, and opens to an amazing den, newly remodeled.

The things I love about Asheville are the opportunities to go so many places and do some many things. As an active, outdoor enthusiast, I especially love the hiking, mountain biking, and trail running, minutes from home! Or, spend a day visiting amazing breweries, cideries, or wineries.
Hungry? The restaurant scene is second to none. We also developed friendships that will last a lifetime. In West Asheville, mere minutes from home, we love to eat at Universal Joint, Pizza Mind, Rocky's, Isis, Biscuit Head, Happy Hill, Bonfire BBQ, Nine Mile, Westville Pub, The Admiral, and WALK. So many, so close! Our favorite downtown restaurant is Mountain Madre. So good, and a great atmosphere! There's several grocery stores within a mile. Aldi, Ingles, and GO Grocery, are all just minutes away.
Need a mechanic? Rice's Exxon are good people and walking distance. There's also several pharmacies close by.
We knew we wanted this house the first time we saw it. The neighborhood was quiet, the location was perfect, a half acre of property created privacy, and there was such potential! We added the front porch and lower entrance dormer roof, built the fire pit and lower screened porch, refinished the hardwood floors, renovated the kitchen and bathrooms, and finally, the basement! The backyard fire pit area is the perfect gathering spot for friends and neighbors in any season!
Western North Carolina will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up a flatlander, the beauty of the mountains never grew old, and we hope to return one day. There's nothing better than hiking in autumn, the leaves crunching under your feet, with a breathtaking view of the mountains. I think one of the best things about the house is the location. It's close to everything but feels far away. You're only minutes from West Asheville nightlife and a few more to downtown. But as soon as you pull down the street, all the hustle and bustles seems miles away. We really liked spending the day with friends, and there's so many places to meet and have a bite and a beer, all convenient to home. Or, we'd just light the grill and invite over the neighbors. Those impromptu porch parties were the best!
Less than 30 minutes away are Addison Farms Vineyard, with great wine and amazing views from their porch. Also a short drive is Navitat Canopy Adventures. We liked to do day trips, and our favorite was Bryson City. We'd usually get a hotel, go rafting at Nantahala Outdoor during the day, then get dinner and drinks at night.
Our neighborhood is one that most people think doesn't exist, where neighbors gather almost daily, and genuinely care about one another. Whether it's a beverage on the front porch, gathering around the fire pit, or just catching up while walking the dog, we were lucky to call this home for over a decade, and hate to leave. There's the annual Memorial Day Weekend block party (6 years and going strong), handing out candy together at Halloween, or pot luck Super Bowl and New Years' Eve parties. Need a stick of butter, cup of sugar, or even a power tool? You don't have to look far. Your neighbor has it covered.
Energy costs were lowered when we installed a tankless water heater and energy efficient windows. Duke Energy supplied electric, City of Asheville for water/sewer, Freeman Gas provides propane for basement vent-free stove (with a lease that's been paid for the next year), and Mountain Energy provides oil for the furnace.
