The things I love about Leicester are that everyone is super friendly, but not in your business, they are there for you if you need them. We have a local community center that caters to our community with events through-out the year.
We have local neighbors who sell home made organic products and a local organic store. Our house is located with-in a farming community with community values. It is serene, calm and peaceful.
We love to eat at our local restaurants including fast food, but also Mexican, Barbeque and good old home cooking, if you want something a little more upmarket the Twisted Laurel is within a short drive.
There are local organic and hardware stores near by and Ingles is within a short drive for your groceries. Our neighborhood has a lot of local people selling their homemade wares. We were first drawn to this area for its peacefulness, serenity and beauty.
Asheville is a short drive from Leicester, it has everything any age group needs and more. Schools, a wide variety of food stores to cover all diets, restaurants, dancing, live music, night clubs, amazing hiking and walk trails, fishing, hunting, water sports, tubing, canoeing, rock climbing, four wheeling and lots of job opportunities.
After a hard days (or nights) work, the drive home allows you to unwind and when you are home you are able to enjoy the beautiful, peaceful scenery surrounding this house. My husband fishes, ties his own flies and hunts and is a Latin percussionist. We both love to read and spend time at home with our family and have loved living here for 11 years.
Our neighborhood is great for being friendly. Local farmers will leave boxes of fruits and vegetables on our doorstep during the summer which is a wonderful surprise after being at work all day. It is super safe in our area, we haven't locked our car doors in the 11 years we have lived here!
We use French Broad electric for our electricity, Suburban propane for the gas, we have well water, AT & T for land line phone and internet and Verizon for our cell phones which we can use at home using Wi Fi calling and Wastepro for the garbage collection. Our basic utilities each month are around $350-400.
