92 Horizon Hill Road, Asheville NC 28804

7 minutes drive to downtown Asheville, and 3 minutes from all the conveniences and restaurants on Merrimon Avenue, this sought-after north location offers amazing views from the west-facing terrace. Sip your drink slowly, hanging out on your choice of natural stone terraces and relax as you watch the sun go down.

The sunrise side of the home has around 300ft of frontage, with a natural stone pool with a mini waterfall, complete with water lilies and surrounded by more natural stone walls than you will find in 99% of homes in the area, a trade mark of the home's famous architect, James Bertram King.

Not many luxury homes in Asheville have a year-round private pool house, boasting a glass house on three sides with an electronically controlled ceiling that opens to the stars, as well as surrounding glass doors that open to take in the breezes from those wonderful long-range views. Imagine languishing in the heated pool and gazing out over the mountain range.

2.06 acres adds to the feeling of privacy, nestled on one of the favorite high-spots in the mountains. New 'Trex' decks complement real stone decks off the sunset side. If you are one of the growing group of people who have rediscovered mid century modern, check out this wonderful home.

The Architect

The steel beam structure was designed by architect affectionately known as Bert King, Asheville's most prolific architect of Mid Century homes, as well as many commercial buildings. His clean and simple style favored the use of stone and wood to blend in with the natural surroundings of the mountains. James Bertram King grew up in Asheville. On returning home from world war II, King graduated with honors from the School of Design at NC State University, in 1949 with a Degree in Architectural Engineering. King worked with famed architect, Henry Gaines, then moved on to join Six Associates and Lindsey Gudger. In 1952 he opened J. Bertram King Associates. From 1952 until his retirement in 1994, his style was sought after throughout Asheville and other surrounding areas. Among his awards, King received the Fellow Award from American Institute of Architecture; and in 1968, the Institute gave J. Bertram King Associates an award for the 1964 design of Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church and College Chapel.
